Chef's Tip

Breakfast Starter
For a great breakfast starter for the customer on the run, offer a Pear Slushy. Blender fast, mix 1 cup of cored, pared and chopped Northwest Pears, 1/4 cup orange juice, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 cup crushed ice. Blend 'til smooth. Makes 2 8-ounce servings.

Equivalents
Small Pear: ~ 1/4 lb.
Medium Pear: ~ 1/3 lb.
Large Pear: ~ 1/2 lb.

1 Large Pear
Sliced: 1-1/4 Cups
Diced: 1-1/6 Cups
Pureed: 7/8 Cup

1 lb. Fresh Pears
Sliced: 2-1/2 Cups
Diced: 2-1/3 Cups
Pureed: 1-3/4 Cups

1 Pound = .45 Kilograms
1 Cup = .24 Liters
